I have spent quite a lot of my time doing software architecture professionally. Over the period of time, I was fortunate enough to get to work alongside some great software architects. As part of my job, I am responsible for hiring competent software architects.

Quite a lot of time, people confuse software architects with technology specialists. A part of a software architect’s role is certainly focused on technology selection/use, but it's not what they do all the time.

Here is a set of questions that you can use to prepare for the ‘real’ software architect interviews. There might be additional questions focused on your technical acumen, but you can easily find references to these questions on the internet.

What business problem are you trying to solve with the current application you are working on?

Hint — A clear problem statement about why this application exists and how it helps.

Explain the architecture of the current application you are working on/worked on in the past.
